Personal Commentary about "Young Art"

Something I've noticed about young artists in general, is that for the most part they love the taboo. They love being noticed, which is all very understandable. But at some point it turns into a sort of pretentious attempt at innovation. Flashy colors, particularly the color red, are used. For some reason the only solution, in different critiques I've been a part of, seem to be that something needs to be red.

They also love nudity. I suppose this is a sort of expression of maturity and a right of passage but on the same note it seems as though young artists use it in excess. It all seems like the easiest solution to being noticed and talked about. And in some ways it reminds me very much of Hollywood and the media, and how pushing the limits and being provocative to get some shock value is predominant in both silly little Hollywood scandals and young art.

But that's simply what I've observed.
